It finally happened. TWiA's home-state senior senator, John McCain (R/AZ) thinks the United States Capitol is his lawn, and he had the "Get off my lawn, you damn kids!" moment we all knew was coming.
Is the purpose of President Obama's free community college proposal just to take money from the rich to give to the not-so-rich? Or is there more to it than that? Richard Reeves suggests it's an attempt to make K-14 education the new norm, for the new, high-tech 21st century, and he makes a good argument.
In the tragic news of the day, climate change denier Rep. Louie Gohmert (R/TX) has been named chair of the House Natural Resources Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee. According to this report, "The Natural Resources Committee has oversight of the Department of Interior, which includes: Bureau of Indian Affairs, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, National Park Service, Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement , U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Geological Survey." Scary times.
I dunno. I think McCain's already had a few "get off my lawn" moments. It's just that he keeps forgetting where his lawn IS.

Hes had a lot of cranky old man moments, but thats the first time I actually expected him to utter the words. He went for low-life scum instead of dang whippersnappers, but the effect was the same.
